No More Lattes for You

Posted by olemike on 04/15/2011

We are a nation in trouble if we think our current leaders did a good job in reducing spending for the balance of the fiscal year.  While it was reported that cuts of $38.5 billion were achieved, the Congressional Budget Office stated that only $352 million would actually be achieved.   With a total deficit of 1.4 trillion, that is only .02514%.

For an individual who has $10,000 in credit card debt to pay for, a comparable savings would be $2.51.  You couldn’t even buy a latte from Starbucks for that.  Are we really to believe that the national debt will be reduced at this rate?  All we are getting from the Republicans in Washington is spin about what a great job they are doing in reducing the deficit and  the Democrats are harping about how draconian the reductions are.

Is cutting $2.51 from your personal budget draconian?   They must take us for fools.

It’s the most frustrating thing. I am to the point that I can’t stand to watch any of these talking heads.
